The seven-time LCS champion will replace Kasper “Kobbe” Kobberup in the bot lane, who joined the team in 2019 following a top eight finish at the 2019 World Championship with Splyce. If this roster move is approved by Riot, he’ll be reuniting with his former teammates Vincent “Biofrost” Wang and Søren “Bjergsen” Bjerg.

TL finished ninth place in the League of Legends Championship Series 2020 Spring Split, their first time missing playoffs since the league was franchised in 2018. At one point during the split, TL Academy ADC Edward “Tactical” Ra subbed in for Doublelift because of an illness. It was later announced that Doublelift would be benched in favor of Tactical due to a  cited lack of motivation.

In a statement released on Twitter, Doublelift clarified that he wanted to focus on regaining the trust of his teammates after being benched. Team Liquid put up a 2-1 record with Tactical across weeks six and seven before bringing Doublelift back to the starting roster to finish out the split.

In 2017, TSM kicked Doublelift from the team along with Biofrost in favor of former G2 Esports bot laners Jesper “Zven” Svenningsen and Alfonso “mithy” Aguirre Rodríguez with their eyes set on performing well at international events. Since then, TSM has failed to qualify for a major international event or win a domestic title for themselves. In 2019, Doublelift reached the MSI finals by defeating defending World Champions Invictus Gaming.

TSM finished 4th overall in the 2020 Spring Split after being knocked out by the second place FlyQuest in the losers’ bracket of playoffs.
