Caitlyn is one of the lane-focused ADCs in the game: if you want to maximize her value, these are the five best Caitlyn supports you should be playing with her.
Her high base range auto attack allows her to dictate the pace and the minion waves during the laning phase, so the Piltover marksman needs to have someone who can either allow her to pressure with more safety or increase the lane pressure with more long-range damage and poke. With that in mind, these are the best supports for Caitlyn.
Lux and Caitlyn are an iconic bot lane duo in League of Legends. Often played by pro players in specific bot-centric metas, the two champions are incredibly oppressive due to their ability to poke and harass starting from level one. The long range and kill pressure will often guarantee full control of minion waves, giving you complete agency on how to play around early-game objectives. That being said, both champions are relatively easy to shut down, so make sure to have deep vision or knowledge of the enemies’ position.
If you’re not comfortable playing Lux or want something more defensive, then consider Morgana as the second-best option. The champion recently got some well-needed buffs to make her a tad stronger and she is now a safe play in most Elos. Her E keeps Caitlyn safe crowd controls, and her own CC chain is so long that Caitlyn can free fire the target to death. She gets a bit weaker the higher you climb, but you have plenty of other supports to play with Caitlyn on this list.
Karma is a much more balanced version than Lux in terms of aggression. While she does offer a similar level of poke early on, Karma can also count on much stronger shielding and the movement speed buff can help Caitlyn space better in most situations. The champion is relatively easy to pick up, making it a reliable option to default on.
Compared to the three supports mentioned previously, Bard has a much more unique dynamic with Caitlyn. While he also has good crowd control to chain up with the ADC, the great advantage Bard has is his playmaking potential.
The combos are less telegraphed than the other ones, which makes him harder to play against. If you’re able to build good leads, maximize the roam potential to pick up chimes around the map. Don’t leave Caitlyn solo, however: she can still be subject to ganks and pressure if the lane is misplayed.
Milio is not as strong as other enchanter supports early on, but he makes up for it by enabling Caitlyn later in the game. The additional range from his W makes her easily get more damage at the start of fights while staying in a safe position. And if she gets engaged on, Milio can ensure Caitlyn stays alive with the ultimate.
In other words, you’re sacrificing a bit of early-game power for a stronger late-game, so keep that in mind when you are looking to make your support choice.
