What is Fortnite Sus? Movie Studio and Poster on New Map

What is Fortnite Sus? The new map has quite a bit of worldbuilding on it. Including some new fake companies to join the line-up of brands like Burd. This latest one has ended up in the middle of some controversy in the game right now. Some of the set dressing related to this company might have come from a less than admirable source. But Fortnite Sus goes beyond a few posters.

It seems like this is one of the areas of the game that’ll grow in Chapter 7. The new map that we’ve moved to could get more things from the Sus company in the future, just like how No Sweat Insurance grew in the past. Although, it’s already heavily associated with one of the more controversial parts of the season. This is what’s going on with Fortnite Sus.

What is Fortnite Sus?

Sus in terms of Fortnite lore and world building is a little different. It has been added into the game with the release of Fortnite Chapter 7. It’s both a place on the map, and something you’ll see all over the island with details of the world. It’s Sus Studios, a company which you’ll find evidence of in just about every POI right now.

Fortnite Sus Studios is a location on the map, the sets that this fake film production company have. As a building, it looks like a backlot. Movie props, studios, that kind of stuff is spread around. It’s Fortnite Sus who own the studios and produce films there. In the lore. It’s obviously just a POI in the game itself, empty buildings around a theme but no story actively happening when you land there in game.

You can see their reaches further around the map though. There are different easter eggs to do with them. Fortnite world building typically isn’t very involved. However, when Epic comes up with a fake company, they often start using them all over the map. To add a bit of consistency to the world. Which means the Fortnite Sus label has ended up in the center of a major Fortnite controversy at the moment.

Sus Studios and AI Posters

Sus Studios has covered the Fortnite map with posters for their new productions… but these posters look a little sus themselves.

Essentially, players have become worried the current Fortnite season uses generative AI in some of its assets. At first, a Marty McFly Fortnite emote. But also, these posters from Sus studios. The jury is still out on if they’re AI generated or not (The emote’s artist came forward, that’s definitely not AI).

Some players had thought Fortnite sus explained things. It was a low-rent production studio, so the games using art that looked borderline AI generated would be in line with Sus’s standards. But it doesn’t seem like this is an intentional part of things. It doesn’t look like Fortnite sus is supposed to be a joke about AI, the art is just a little off looking to some players.

We don’t know for certain if Fortnite is using AI or not though. If Epic’s CEO hadn’t been complaining about steam taking the consumer’s side and forcing games to disclosure AI generated content, players probably wouldn’t have been looking for it. But until things are cleared up, some players might have some extra questions about Fortnite sus.
