The upper bracket semi finals were something to behold at the BetBoom Dacha Belgrade today. It looks like Team Falcons really wanted to prove us wrong about their disappointing form and come back in an impressive way. And now they’re the first grand finalist!

Team Falcons Are First Grand Finalists at BetBoom Dacha Belgrade

Falcons play with their food

Let’s be real, Falcons definitely could have ended game 1 at 30 minutes. But no, they dragged out the low kill game to 51 minutes before finally forcing Tundra to tap out against their 95k gold advantage. It’s not quite a record breaker, but it’s not far off.

I can only assume Falcons were making Tundra pay for knocking them out of the The International 2024 back in September. But now Tundra are Topson-less and relying on Lorenof, on loan from Aurora, to fill his legendary shoes.

Both teams were clearly keen to double down on their drafts. It made sense for Team Falcons to pick Alchemist in game 2 after wild sucess in game 1 but it’s never a good sign when the enemy carry is equal in farm with him. Comparatively, this essentially puts Alch behind.

A lot of back and forth

Now game 2, that was a spicy meatball. I’m always impressed by teams that can hold their own after losing a 50+ minute game and being beaten down and Tundra is one of those teams. The top lane Dusa and Chen combo got Tundra off to a great start and it was a lot more competitive.

Falcons weren’t able to get their claws into Tundra in the same way at all. They made Tundra work for it but in the end, Falcons called GG after losing a fight to four + Chen posing as an Observer Ward on the high ground.

Team Falcons Seal the Deal

Bouncing back from the way they let things slip through their fingers was not a problem for Falcons in game 3. Team captain Wu “Sneyking” Jingjun really said “let ’em have Broodmother” and Falcons proceeded to win in convincing fashion anyway, because they have an unstoppable talent in the form of Stanislav “Malr1ne” Potorak leading the charge.

Tundra just didn’t get to play much Dota at all in this game, allowing Falcons to just run them over. And just like that, Team Falcons have their revenge against Tundra after TI13, but it’s still possible for them to meet again in the grand finals tomorrow in Belgrade.

Regardless of which of our top 3 teams wins the BetBoom Dacha Belgrade 2024, they’re going to have to go straight from tomorrow’s grand final to Sunday’s DreamLeague Season 24 kick off.

Personally, I’m not much of a fan of these back to back tournaments. It’s great that there is so much Dota to play but teams and players need a break. It’s no wonder we’re starting to see new Dota teams joining the ranks as the old guard start to take a step back.
