Roman “Ramzes” Kushnarev has officially been released from Evil Geniuses, after more than a year with the North American organization. His dismissal from the team was announced Monday by the organization, via their social media channels.

This move comes as no surprise, given that Ramzes had been placed on the sidelines by EG and made inactive in November 2020. He was then replaced by veteran offlaner Daryl “iceiceice” Koh Pei Xiang just a week later. Ramzes remained on the official EG roster.

Shortly after this, he joined forces with some of his old teammates from the Virtus.pro days, a time for which he is most remembered. The squad they formed was known as Just Error, and briefly included fellow former EG member Syed “SumaiL” Hassan. Unfortunately, his brief stint with Just Error bore no fruit whatsoever. As the team found themselves floundering in nearly every tournament they participated in since their formation. They eventually disbanded before too long, and Ramzes has not played any official matches since then.

During his time with EG, Ramzes helped the team secure high placings in premier tournaments. Most notably, a fourth-place at MDL Chengdu Major, second at the ONE Esports Dota 2 World Pro Invitational in Singapore and DreamLeague Season 13 (where they were just one game away from defeating Team Secret for the title), and third at Dota Summit 12.

His success with the team would end there, as EG placed just sixth at the OMEGA League Europe Immortal Division. This was when he was subsequently sidelined by the organization.

Regardless, his immense mechanical skill and game sense as a core player combined with his impressive resume is sure to land him in another team soon enough. Which team and in what region will remain to be seen.
