It’s almost time for the brand new Dota hero, Kez, to join the ranks of the game. After being announced during The International back in September and rumours flying (pun intended) about Kez being released that week, it seems we finally have a new Dota hero release date. Who knows when “tomorrow” is on Valve time, but we’re hoping it’s actually November 8th 2024.

Kez is coming soon
In a blog post, Valve revealed that Kez will be returning from exile in Icewrack and rebuilding a Kazurai army with the help of some Oglodi warriors. Oglodis are an established race in Dota lore and include heroes like Axe and Disruptor so it feels safe to say Kez will likely have some unique voice lines when laning with these heroes.
While it seems pretty obvious that flightless Kez will be a melee hero, we really don’t know what kind of skillset the bird samurai will have and what role he’ll fill in the game. Since the most recent addition, Ringmaster, is a ranged magic based support, it would be great to see Kez be the latest agi carry or something similar.
New comic

I’ve really enjoyed the effort Valve has put into Dota lore with the Crownfall comics and this is no different. Kez comes across like a witty and plucky rebel who isn’t content with the discrimination against the flightless.
As he scales his way topside, he seems to display a Marci level of dexterity, which could hint at a new mobility skill. He hunts for a secret weapon developed by the Shodo Temple, which was specifically designed the help the flightless fight those with working wings.
Kez doesn’t end up claiming some kind of new sword but he is definitely portrayed as the good guy fighting up against oppression. So while we might not get an actual bird samurai, we’ll get one with specific fighting abilities.
Crownfall Act 4 when?
The release of Kez, hopefully tomorrow, doesn’t necessarily guarantee the release of Crownfall Act 4. One thing is certain and that is that we’re waaay off the original timeline for Crownfall so realistically, anything could happen.
I’d like to see it released, it’s been a long time since Act 3 began back on June 39th and this event has actually been going on for far too long. With TI long come and gone and a new season beginning, let’s just get it released and get the job done, right Valve? Right?
