After an exhilarating 16-team all-Swedish online stage, the Svenska Elitserien Fall 2024 Finals are just around the corner! The action kicks off on November 21, as teams compete for a share of the 230,000 kr prize pool, a coveted spot in the Spring 2025 season, and the honor of lifting the championship trophy.
This C-series CS2 tournament stands as a cornerstone of the Swedish CS scene, alongside the prestigious Svenska Cupen, and plays a crucial role in nurturing grassroots esports in the region.
The LAN finals will take place at the Stockholmmässan’s Mix-Stage, marking a departure from previous venues. These were the Elmia Congress & Concert Hall in Spring 2024 and Älmhults Handelsplats in Fall 2023. Stockholmmässan, known as the home of DreamHack, offers a larger and more dynamic space, promising to draw a bigger in-person crowd as it transitions into hosting DreamHack immediately after the first round.
The prize pool totals 230,000 kr (approximately $21,000), with the champion taking home 120,000 kr, a place in Spring 2025, and the championship trophy.
At Hotspawn, we love covering tournaments both big and small and I am especially stoke about this one. Though it’s often overshadowed by A-tier events, Svenska Elitserien consistently delivers thrilling grassroots competition, and I can’t wait to see who comes out on top!
The 4 teams battling it out at the LAN finals are Kario Mart, Kappa Bar, Alliance and Spring 2024 champions Johnny Speeds.

With only 4 teams, the format is pretty simple – double elimination and the matches are best of three. Two teams progress to the grind final and the two losers compete for 4rd and fourth place respectively.
For C-Tier veterans and reigning Svenska Elitserien Spring 2024 champions Johnny Speeds, the journey to the Fall Finals was as smooth as expected. They cruised through the upper Swiss stage without dropping a single match, reminding everyone why they’re the team to beat. Alliance and Kappa Bar, however, had to fight a little harder. Alliance stumbled once against Johnny Speeds, and Kappa Bar had their own setback against Alliance. It sets the stage for a LAN final full of familiar rivalries and unresolved scores.
As for KM, their path was anything but easy. A nail-biting 2-3 record in the upper Swiss made their qualification a grind, but they’ve earned their place and will be eager to prove they belong on the Swedish elite stage.

In the Play-In stage, Kappa Bar, Alliance, and Johnny Speeds all progressed as expected. The real shocker, however, came from Kario Mart. They pulled off a stunning upset against Lemondogs in round one before delivering an even bigger surprise: a victory over upper Swiss winners and former B/A-tier regulars GODSENT. This unexpected triumph sent Kario Mart straight into the grand finals, making this edition extra spicy one of the main reasons I am so drawn to this competition – who doesn’t love an underdog story?
LAN events often deliver surprises, but it’s hard to look past Johnny Speeds as the clear favorites for the crown. They’re in solid form, recently holding their own against tougher competition at Yalla Compass, and boast a respectable 60% win rate. As the most experienced team in this C-tier competition, with several titles and valuable B/A-tier experience under their belts, they look well-prepared to defend their title.
Johnny Speeds come into the Finals as the reigning champions, ranked 50th in the world, with a stable roster that’s only been strengthened by the recent addition of Hampus.
However, don’t count out Kappa Bar and Alliance just yet. Both teams are no strangers to the Elitserien and are showing decent form. Alliance, ranked 101st in the world, holds a 46% win rate, while Kappa Bar, though unranked and sporting a 41% win rate with a negative kill/death ratio, have proven they can cause problems for any opponent. While there’s a clear gap between them and Johnny Speeds, calling them “also-rans” would be a mistake.
Then there’s Kario Mart, the ultimate underdogs of the tournament. Officially playing in their first proper event, they’ve had to fight tooth and nail to reach the Finals. Their unpredictability makes them a wildcard—everyone loves a good underdog story, and if Kario Mart manages to exceed expectations, they would surely enter Swedish esports folklore. While the odds may not be in their favor, their journey so far ensures they’re a team worth watching.
As a C-tier, localized Swedish event with a relatively low prize pool, expectations for global viewership of the Svenska Elitserien Fall 2024 Finals are modest. Notably, the prize pool has been higher in the past, and when adjusted for inflation, the tournament now rewards its winners less than ever before.
Adding to the challenges, Svenska Elitserien will run concurrently with DreamHack—and even in the same venue—which could draw potential viewers away. Interest during Spring 2024 and the Fall 2024 qualifiers was also underwhelming. According to Esports Charts, the qualifiers peaked at just 1,100 viewers, a stark drop from the Spring 2024 Finals’ peak of 6,000. The broadcast talent is exclusively Swedish, which may further limit its international appeal.
That said, local interest is expected to be solid, especially given the compelling matchups and storylines that are unfolding. While this tournament may not capture the global spotlight, it promises exciting moments for those who tune in. With plenty of stories yet to be written, this event still has the potential to deliver something special for fans of grassroots Swedish CS.
Three of the four participants this year have been in a previous Elitserien grand finals with Johnny Speeds and Alliance being previous winners.
