At possibly the weirdest time imaginable, weeks after the player break and with the Group Stage of the BLAST Bounty Spring already in the rear view, MOUZ has benched their IGL, siuhy. The organization hasn’t offered much of an explanation, but siuhy’s tweet alludes to “clashes within the team” as the reason.

siuhy’s Benching from MOUZ Opens a World of Possibilities

In a world where Danish IGLs rule the roost, the Polish prodigy proved his mettle quite convincingly. While his trophy cabinet, that only has ESL Pro League Season 18 & 19  titles. amd a BetBoom Dacha Belgrade 2024 win, might not fully reflect his brilliance, his impact on MOUZ’s success is palpable. To take a team to #1 status at the age of just 22 is no easy fate. Even karrigan admitted it took him years to hone his craft and become a true leader, siuhy has been passing the test of an IGL with flying colors in the past few years.

Absolute control over their squad is indispensable for an IGL, and understandably, confidence can take a nosedive when others start calling the shots. Just as the saying goes, “too many cooks spoil the broth.” If this was indeed the root cause, then siuhy’s benching might genuinely be in the team’s and his own best interest. This is the FaZe saga where karrigan was benched, and NiKo took the reins all over again. Of course, karrigan went on to find redemption with MOUZ. But, where does siuhy’s road lead?

Where can siuhy go?

Tier 1 CS is currently suffering from an IGL drought, and G2 Esports might be the most parched of them all now that Niko has gone to Falcons. They’ve had to shoehorn Snax into a new role at 31. No longevity there. Now imagine siuhy stepping in, taking charge of m0NESY, malbsMd, and HeavyGod. If he managed to dominate with torzsi, Xertion, and Jimpphat, the potential here is absolutely spine-tingling.

Another likely candidate is Team Liquid. While Twistzz has shown glimpses of promise with the IGL role, l’d much rather see him hitting headshots. NiKo tried calling and learned the hard way, perhaps it’s time for Twistzz to do the same and step back. Let siuhy take the reins, allowing Twistzz to return to being the fragger that the last few months have forced us to forget. Apart from these two teams, others are either mononational or not tier-1, except for HEROIC who although already have more than 5 players in their.

The Fallout for MOUZ

MOUZ, on the other hand, finds itself in murky waters. The timing of this decision couldn’t be worse, and they might be a dead team walking. Without a regular IGL to steer the ship, these young stars could see their potential squandered. Don’t be surprised if this move triggers an exodus of talent.

To accomodate the change, Brollan will now take over the reins and xelex from the Academy will be called up for their upcoming event IEM Katowice. Here’s how MOUZ’s roster currently stands:

  • Jimpphat
  • Xertion
  • Brollan
  • torzsi
  • xelex

Brollan has definitely got some work to do to prove himself as an IGL and he really doesn’t have a lot of time to do it in. Only time will tell.
