Should dev1ce leave Astralis, and where could he go?

Poor dev1ce. The legendary AWPer just can’t catch a break, can he? Since his grand 2022 return to Astralis, he has failed to make a single Major with the team, wasting away the last of his prime desperately trying to make things work with the organization he once won four CS:GO Majors with.

Should dev1ce leave Astralis, and where could he go?

In his team’s latest failure at the EU MRQ for the upcoming BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025, 36 kills for dev1ce were not enough to carry Astralis over the line in the deciding map against B8, with the AWPer once again let down by the players around him. His frustration was only underlined by his posting of a post-match GIF on X, the classic Looney Tunes “That’s All Folks” ending card. A sign of the times, perhaps?

At this crucial juncture, a huge decision has to be made by both organization and player. For Astralis, it’s five missed Majors in a row now. That lack of sticker money has to be hurting their wallet, and at 29 years old, this is realistically the last period where Astralis could get a tidy fee for their talisman. It could be the difference between life and death for the org, if rumors are to be believed. For dev1ce, he must ask a similarly tricky question: does he still have the will to win, or is he happy to see out his career collecting paychecks in a safe gig with Astralis?

At such a low point for both the team and the player, it’s probably time to choose. But where could dev1ce feasibly go, should he decide to leave? I’m going to look at some options that make sense for the player, where he could improve on the current options. Some of these would surely break the internet. Word of warning – cursed Photoshop concepts ahead.

FaZe Clan

FaZe Clan dev1ce is the CS2 transfer move you didn’t know you needed. Right now, broky appears to be on the way down, with no stop to his decline in sight. Getting in a player with dev1ce’s experience would be the perfect way to stop the rot, and his huge profile and celebrity are perfect for the flashiness of the FaZe Clan organization.

A move to FaZe Clan would also reunite dev1ce with karrigan, who he previously played with on Team Dignitas, TSM, and the early days of Astralis once upon a time. It didn’t quite click in their younger days, and now, this would be a fascinating opportunity for the pair to finally make it work as legends of the game.

NAVI

NAVI dev1ce seems like a virtually impossible move, but on paper, it could actually make a ton of sense. Since winning the PGL Major Copenhagen 2024, their young AWPer w0nderful has seemingly taken a step back in his individual level. He’s never quite found the consistency of an elite AWPer, and if NAVI are going to make roster moves in the coming shuffle, then this could be a position of interest?

Why dev1ce, though? It’s a rough market for AWPers right now, especially if you’re not willing to gamble on young, unproven talent. Now, dev1ce wouldn’t exactly be a long-term move, but at least you’d know exactly what you’re getting with him.

Team Liquid

This is a CS2 roster move that would really break the internet. Team Liquid dev1ce. Once arch-nemeses during the Astralis 2017 – 2019 era, don’t tell me you wouldn’t find it interesting to see these two come together for a period. After all, ultimate isn’t exactly lighting the world alight anymore, and even a past-his-prime dev1ce would be an upgrade in current form.

I can’t state just how unlikely this move is, though. For Astralis, selling their iconic AWPer to their once-rivals would be a damning sign of the times, a true display of how far the team has fallen. Given that dev1ce has a contract until December 2026, this move would just be too expensive to make happen for so many reasons. It’d be fun, though.

G2

G2 dev1ce. This is a team that could definitely afford to make this happen, given the fact that they’ve just received a giant lump of cash from Falcons from m0NESY. They’ve brought hades in as a temporary replacement for the BLAST.tv Austin Major, but let’s be honest: they need a more permanent solution if they’re to seriously compete for trophies.

This would be a fun move to give dev1ce a change of scenery, but I see one big issue: why on Earth would dev1ce want to play for a G2 roster seemingly on a downward spiral? The environments in G2 and Astralis are both high-pressure, but at least his legend status buys him leeway with the Danish organization.

Where do you think dev1ce should go? Do you think he’ll decide to leave Astralis at all following another failure to reach the BLAST Austin Major? Let us know!
