New CS2 update adds night version of Ancient

Valve has released a new CS2 update that adds an official nighttime version of Active Duty map, Ancient. The update also comes with a nighttime version of Shoots, the map usually seen in casual game modes.

New CS2 update headlined by Ancient Night

The highlight of the new CS2 update is of course the nighttime version of Ancient, which gives the popular map an interesting facelift. At the moment, Ancient Night can only be played on Casual and Deathmatch, but it remains to be seen if this is planned to extend to the actual Active Duty version of the map.

The patch notes also tease that the original Ancient and Shoots now “use latest CS2 shaders,” so you can expect the OG versions to also look a little better following the new CS2 update.

Limited-time Armory M4A1-S skin and Music Kit added

It’s not all about the map changes; Valve has also added a couple of new items, updating the Armory with a new limited edition M4A1-S skin – the M4A1-S Solitude. You can see this below.

Also added is the new Deluge Music Kit box, “featuring music kits from Adam Beyer, Ghost, HEALTH, James and the Cold Gun, Jonathan Young, Juelz, Killer Mike, PVRIS, Selective Response, and Tigercub.” Give them a listen!

The patch notes boast a few animation fixes, which should hopefully improve the AnimGraph2 animations added in the CS2 update a couple of weeks back. Also not mentioned in any of the patch notes, but the BLAST Austin Major sticker sale has officially begun at 75% off capsules.

• Sawed-off shotgun deploy modified and fixed shell penetration on reload.
• Improved deploy +quick inspect animations for all knives.
• Improved deploy +quick inspect animations for the AK, Galil, AUG, PP-Bizon.
• Improved deploy animations for the AWP, M4A4, M4A1-S.
• Improved animations for legacy SSG08 models.
• Removed the deploy inspect delay for most weapons.
• Fixed XM1014 blocking crosshair during reload.

[ MISC ]

• Rendering performance improvements across most maps.
• Rendering resolution and aspect ratio can now be changed in fullscreen windowed mode.
• fps_max can no longer be changed while connected to a server.
• Fixed a case where certain weapons could be fired sooner after a re-deploy.
