At this point, it’s no secret that m0NESY is on the way out of G2. All signs point to the AWP prodigy making a big-money move to Falcons prior to the BLAST.tv Austin Major, opting to reunite with former teammate NiKo in pursuit of glory on the server. It’s tough news for G2 fans to swallow, but it shouldn’t really come as a surprise to anyone who has been paying attention to the scene over the last few months.

With that comes great opportunity. Everyone on G2 knows they’re nearing the end of the line with m0NESY, and they won’t want to go out with a whimper. Every event together could be their last, putting G2 into a perennial “Last Dance” kind of situation. Now, as Semi-Finalists at PGL Bucharest 2025, the team could be set for one last hurrah.

G2’s match against Complexity puts them in pole position to win Bucharest

Hot off the heels of a solid win against Virtus.pro, G2 are set to go up against Complexity for a spot in the Final of PGL Bucharest 2025. If G2 could pick a dream opponent in this scenario, I’m pretty sure it’d be Complexity. The North American outfit are in great form, sure, but G2 have already beaten them at this event, being the only team to do so.

This rich vein of form that Complexity find themselves in could still be a bubble waiting to pop rather than any sign of long-term improvement. G2 have to fancy themselves as massive favorites to go through here, especially facing a Complexity lineup that until PGL Bucharest, has suffered from a very tough 2025 so far.

If G2 are about to say goodbye to m0NESY, then a Semi-Final against Complexity is pretty much the ideal scenario to go all the way and send him off with a trophy win. Given how competitive I expect FaZe vs. Falcons to be on the other side of the bracket, I’d go as far as to say the G2 are now favorites to win PGL Bucharest 2025.

If G2 do push past their Complexity test, one of FaZe vs. Falcons awaits. Both would be difficult matches for G2, but there’s obviously one I want to see over the other, if only for the sheer drama of it all. G2 vs. Falcons. Wouldn’t that be quite the storyline? The immediate talking point would be m0NESY vs. NiKo. Friends on the verge of reuniting get to go head-to-head for a tournament victory, with one last match before they join forces once again. Competitive Counter-Strike has always excelled in unique narratives, and this is one I can’t help but root for to happen.

That’s before we even get into the huNter- vs. NiKo narrative – cousin vs. cousin, to the victor goes the spoils. If it happened, it would make for one of the most interesting matchups we’ve had for some time. And if G2 managed to get the win in such a scenario, it would be one of the sweetest “Last Dance” runs the scene has ever been witness to.
