Team Liquid has claimed a huge Race to World First victory Midnight victory after an intense two-guild showdown. The action has lasted for around three weeks, thanks in part to the split raid release. However, it all came down to Echo from EU and Team Liquid from NA, who both had well over 400 kills by the time the boss died. The Midnight expansion has had an intense race to first.

Team Liquid Claims Race to World First Midnight Victory After Secret Phase Drama

The drama was mostly caused late on Easter Sunday, when, on brand, L’ura, the final boss of the raid, decided not to die at 0% and instead resurrected. Causing chaos for Team Liquid, who were the ones to reveal it. Over on the EU, both Echo and Method decided to call it a night. As for Team Liquid, they took a break as they analysed all the features from every player’s POV to learn what was next.

Race to World First Midnight – Secret Phase

Team Liquid was the first to reveal the secret phase, and after spending some time planning tactics, they were able to get about 6 hours of play on it. After a full night of solo progress, Team Liquid managed to get the boss to 44% in the final phase before calling it a night.

Echo would spend most of the day trying to get to that phase, but after around 6 hours of progress, they managed to make their first deep push with a 14% wipe. That firmly put them into “first” place, but with only a few hours before Team Liquid would come back online, Echo started to run out of time. Elsewhere in the EU, Method continued to progress down to 18% on the RWF but only in the third phase.

Team Liquid Claims World First

Despite a number of top efforts from Echo, it was Team Liquid that managed to pull out the win. It came off the back of the cleanest pull we’ve seen so far, which, as always, proves just how good these guilds are. All it takes is one clean pull, and 400+ pulls of a boss become a clean kill.

Echo Claims RWF Second Place

At 2:40 PM CET, Echo claimed the world’s second on the boss, securing the kill after 493 pulls of the boss. In the end, much like Team Liquid, the kill was perfect till the end, as the boss went down.

Method, who sat in third place, was still pushing the boss, sitting at 2% in the Phase 3 of the boss. With the guild yet to see the “secret” phase still, it is likely Method would require at least another day of progress to secure the third spot. While disappointing, it does once again show the gap between the top two and those behind, despite Method improving each tier. That said, securing third place is still a huge moment for Method, who will continue to push. With a reset coming tomorrow, it will likely go down within 24 hours of Echo securing the second-place kill.
