How to Interpret the VCT Global Contract Database

The GCD document is split into four sheets, each including information for a separate VCT region:

  • VCT Americas
  • VCT China
  • VCT EMEA
  • VCT Pacific

All four sheets have the same headings, providing detailed information about each member of every team’s rosters:

  • League: The VCT league that the player/coach competes in
  • Team: The team that the player/coach is signed to
  • Official Tournament Handle: The in-game handle used by the player/coach
  • Legal First Name: The player/coach’s given name
  • Legal Family Name: The players/coach’s surname
  • End Date (Month Day, Year): The end date of the player/coach’s current contract. Most records include only the year, and not the month or date. That said, all contracts coming to an end in any given year will all end on the same date, usually to signify the official start of the free agency period.
  • Resident Status: Whether the player/coach is a Resident in their respective region, or counted as an import (Non-Resident). Teams are permitted to field one Non-Resident player in their roster.
  • Roster Status: Whether the player/coach is currently Active in the lineup or benched (Inactive).
  • Team Contact Information: An email address that can be used to contact the player/coach’s organisation. These are often populated with team managers or press contacts within orgs.

Each sheet also details the date on which they were most recently updated.

While deals are made and transfers are completed through each year’s multiple off seasons, the GCD may not be immediately updated to reflect the changes. This can happen for a number of reasons. Many deals are known within the scene due to roster leaks, though often these leaks occur following verbal agreements and before any contracts are actually signed. Additionally, once contracts are signed, Riot approval is needed before moves are officially completed.
