VALORANT Mobile – setting a new competitive stage with the support of OnePlus

VALORANT Mobile is speeding things up and is setting the foundation for a new esports scene. Following the announcement of the game in April and the closed beta taking place this month, Riot Games also unveiled a new tournament at a launch event, the ‘first mass event’ for its mobile game.

During the announcement, it was also announced a partnership with smartphone maker OnePlus by Jin Yibo, CEO of Teng Jing (TJ) Sports, as well as Tencent’s Head of Domestic Distribution and Esports Operations for VALORANT Mobile. TJ Sports is a joint venture of game developer Riot Games and its parent company, Tencent Holdings, and operates the League of Legends Professional League (LPL).

The partnership will see the OnePlus Ace 5 Pro become the official device for the rest of the year 2025, and it will be featured in an upcoming offline demo in Shanghai later this month. A pre-release open competition will also take place in Qingdao in July.

“VALORANT Mobile is committed to creating a creative competitive stage, allowing layers to fully demonstrate smooth operations and precise shooting,” the official announcement stated. “This kind of combat experience has strict requirements on the performance of mobile devices OnePlus’s unremitting pursuit of performance tuning and gaming experience is perfectly in line with the concept of VALORANT Mobile.”

When Will VALORANT Mobile Launch Globally?

VALORANT Mobile was officially announced in April, but it’s currently only available for pre-registration in China. At the moment, there is no confirmed release date for the global version, although some leaks have hinted at a potential release later this year in November. According to Apple’s policy, however, the release date might be tentative as pre-orders can be opened up up to a maximum of 180 days before release pre-orders and may be subject to changes.

Compared to the desktop version, there are several special features coming to VALORANT mobile, including:

  • Fully optimized, runs at 120 FPS
  • MVP Animations
  • Built-in tracker system
  • In-game popularity system
  • Replay system
  • New inventory system, including unique battle pass, exclusive skins, and custom agent sprays
  • Free skins
  • Custom rooms
  • Profile highlights and clip posting

Moreover, it was confirmed that a global chat system will be implemented, allowing players to interact from anywhere around the world.

Riot Games previously confirmed that Tencent’s LightSpeed Studios is the co-developer behind the mobile version in China, while the global version will be taken care of by Riot itself.

“Since Lightspeed is already a trusted developer in the region, we think it makes sense to start more locally, where their mobile expertise shines, before we finalise our plans to expand to other regions,” said Anna Donlon, Head of VALORANT Studios, in a previous announcement.

LightSpeed Studios is also known for developing several other mobile games, including the Chinese version of League of Legends Wild Rift, PUBG Mobile, and Peacekeeper Elite.
