bilibili Esports have announced their new Overwatch brand and we are not disappointed: The Hangzhou Spark!

Equipped with blue-and-pink splashes of color, the Hangzhou Spark have thrown caution to the wind with their branding and fans couldn’t be more excited.

Equipped with blue-and-pink splashes of color, the Hangzhou Spark have thrown caution to the wind with their branding and fans couldn’t be more excited. “Pink is the primary color […] with white and blue as secondary colors. The vibrant color combination represents the fast-growing city of Hangzhou, which is in the process of transforming into an international destination,” said the official press release for the Spark.

Similarly, their logo represented the heart of Hangzhou and bilibili Esports: extreme speed, power, and a “creative spark” that is key to the brand’s ideology. Hangzhou is the home of Ms. Chen Youyou, bilibili’s president, and both the president and team are adamant they will represent the Zhejiang Province of China with pride.

It’s no surprise that their logo is as flashy as it is– Hangzhou is a self-proclaimed animation capital of China, home to “favorable incubation conditions for entertainment and esports industries.” The art style of the pointed finger is very reminiscent of Chinese animation and connects well with fans internationally, though might seem a bit out of character for the Overwatch League.

The brand is already endearing fans of the OWL to their brand with their vibrant colors and endearing tweets. The Reaper skin for the Spark is an instant classic– not the most stealthy to be flanking an enemy team with, but the Overwatch dev team would be hard pressed to find a more off-suit skin for a dealer of death within Overwatch that hits all the right notes Spark Reaper does.

Hangzhou hasn’t been afraid to embrace the often shied-away-from cotton candy colors in a way that has fans rallying. Even their announcement tweet brought fans across the OWL to attention:

Creativity is the soul of this team thus far. Let’s hope their roster ends up being on-brand and suitable for such a unique and revolutionary franchise team.
