Despite hope from fans that superstar Tyson “TenZ” Ngo may have been set to return to the organisation, Sentinels have announced the signing of rookie Gurjiwan “Jerrwin” Gill to complete its VCT Americas Stage 1 roster.

Jerrwin signs for Sentinels, completing roster overhaul

To complete their roster for the upcoming split, Sentinels have confirmed the signing of Canadian player Jerrwin as the fifth man on their starting roster.

A rookie at tier one level, Jerrwin most recently played for SaD Esports in North America’s Challengers league, finishing third, and was predominantly on Waylay duty during the event.

Jerrwin joins after JonahP was picked up as their fourth, the pair replacing the outgoing Kyu and N4RRATE after a dreadful Kickoff triggered a raft of roster changes.

Those changes began with the firing of long-time head coach Adam “kaplan” Kaplan, the man who led the side to a Masters Madrid victory in 2024 but had failed to guide his team to additional international success afterwards.

Kaplan was replaced by former RRQ coach Marthinus Jacobus “Ewok” van der Walt. Under Ewok’s leadership, RRQ were transformed from bottom feeders to champions in Pacific, winning Stage 2 of last year to pick up the first VCT title for the organisation.

The South African coach had announced his departure from RRQ ahead of the 2026 season in order to take a break from competition, but he returned within months to join SEN in a role that will see him lead the most scrutinised team in the circuit.

TenZ return not to be

As Sentinels carried out trials in recent weeks, rumours circulated that legendary player TenZ was taking part and may have been on the verge of coming back to pro play after his retirement at the end of 2024.

Owner and CEO Rob Moore had made no secret of his hopes to one day re-sign TenZ, having stated as much during his streaming appearances upon the announcement of imminent roster changes. But potential issues with VCT rules, thought to be around partnership conflicts, had meant that a TenZ return was not straightforward.

Even as rumours of Jerrwin’s signing leaked, Moore was clear that TenZ would always be the first choice for his side, reiterating a prior statement from TenZ’s agent that implied that unnamed behind-the-scenes factors made a return to pro play a “tough decision.”
