First Impression of the EKSA E910 5.8GHz Wireless Gaming Headset
My first impression of the EKSA E910 5.8GHz Wireless Gaming Headset was, “Okay. These are dope af.” These headphones look and feel fantastic. The design is stylish without being flashy.
EKSA stayed true to its signature polygonal, iron mesh that encloses their red-light logo. Though the external logo lights up red, the EKSA E910 wireless gaming headset is not an RGB headset.
The adjustable headband has a soft head cushion. And the earcups have a lux, imitation protein skin with an inert memory foam sponge. The EKSA E910 didn’t squeeze my head too much.
The volume, microphone mute button, and power button are located on the smaller part of the earcup. Holding the power button turns the headset on or off. While the headset is on, however, pressing the power button activates the surround sound.
Does the EKSA E910 Really Go the Distance?
The 5.8GHz USB dongle allowed for an exceptional range. I was able to go from my bedroom to the opposite side of my living room. Accounting for the hallway and walls, that’s about 30 ft. Once I got to the dead spot, the headset voice repeated “Headset connected” until I got closer to the dongle. So, you can get a drink, snack, or go potty, and all while still chatting with your friends.
Sound Check
Also, the USB dongle has a 3.5mm port. With the 3.5mm plugged in, the audio, though clear, gave a bit of static and then cutting in and out. I made sure the cord and the USB were secure, but the issue remained. I connected the dongle to both the front and the back of my PC with the same result.
After removing the 3.5mm cord, the issue was resolved. Although the sound was crisp, it was exceptionally low for a gaming headset. I typically keep my desktop volume at 50 and turn my headphones up. With the desktop volume at 100 and the headphones max, it was still, too low.
Turning the surround sound on does make a difference—not in volume, but in sound quality.
Normally, I have to lower the in-game volume as to not blow out my eardrums. So, each game, I have the perfect settings for me to hear what I want and need. Typically, 50mm drivers give a slightly lower sound output but are incredibly clear. For some reason, however, these headphones are exceptionally low.
The mic works very well. My guinea pigs friends said the EKSA 910’s mic was one of the better mics I’ve tested.
Conclusion
The EKSA E910 5.8GHz Wireless Gaming Headset looks and feels great. These headphones are lightweight, yet sturdy. They feel well made and like they would last at least a few years.
The 5.8GHz dongle really does offer a decent range for moving. The sound quality is on par with other headsets that offer Virtual 7.1 surround sound. The audio quality is immaculate. I just wish I didn’t have to max out the volume on my desktop AND in-game just to appreciate it.
