Korean esports organization DRX has announced a strategic business agreement with financial platform Kiwoom Securities.
The partnership was announced through a memorandum of understanding (MOU) at DRX Seoul Tower on March 19.
The two parties are set to collaborate closely, with DRX changing the team’s name to Kiwoom DRX ahead of the start of the LCK season. That being said, the contract period and sponsorship amount were not disclosed.
This marks Kiwoom Securities’ entrance into the esports sector. Previously, the company had sponsored a team in the traditional sports field, supporting the baseball team Kiwoom Heroes.
The move into competitive gaming is seen as part of a strategy to get closer to the newer, digitally-native generations. Moreover, Kiwoom Securities is known for conducting financial education programs and social contribution activities for young people.
Founded in 2000, the company acts as a broker for both foreign and domestic stock and futures exchanges. Lately, the company has started investing in gaming-related companies, including a funding round for Wemade, the creators of the Legend of Mir series.
DRX is no stranger to the esports scene. The team is mainly known for winning the League of Legends 2022 World Championship and fields teams across VALORANT, PUBG, Tekken, and Street Fighter. Among recent competitive results, DRX finished third in the VALORANT Champions Tour 2025 and finished 10th in the Esports World Cup Club Championship, taking home $600,000 of the $27 million prize pool. DRX’s sponsors include Porsche, Republic of Gamers, Nissin, and streaming platform SOOP, anong others.
