There’s a brand new Fortnite tournament format coming this month! Chapter 7 has begun, and normally that would mean Fortnite esports coming back in a big way. Starting with the Fortnite Road to Unreal tournament. This is a brand-new format that’s going to offer huge prize pools and in December.

Fortnite Road to Unreal Tournament With $1,000,000 Prize Pool

The season began at the very end of November. December was the start of the FNCS last year, but this time there’s a bit more of a gap. Instead of jumping straight in, we’re getting a bit over a month to see how the season settles. Enough time to fine tune the new mechanics and weapons. For players to figure the new meta with all of these changes to how things work. In terms of competitive events, the performance evaluations are an important part of this. But the Fortnite Road to Unreal will be a different kind of tournament.

This event will feature a $1,000,000 prize pool. But it’s also going to give players the opportunity to test their skills as they try to rise up Fortnite Ranked. This is how it’s going to work:

Fortnite Road to Unreal Cup

Lately, Fortnite Ranked has been quiet. Players just aren’t taking part in the mode anymore, with player numbers reaching levels which make it difficult to even find a game. We all know the Ranked system is getting a rework soon with Ranked 2.0. However, to try and get the lobbies a bit busier for the start of Chapter 7, Epic has the Fortnite Road to Unreal tournament.

This event is happening on December 20th, a Cup featuring a $1,000,000 prize pool. The main catch is that it’s only open to players who reach the Unreal rank. Which isn’t exactly he best players alone. But you will have to grind your way up for quite a while first. There’s only a month to reach Unreal and take part.

Getting to Unreal in most Fortnite Ranked modes just takes time. It isn’t a huge measure of skill since it’s so easy to game. However, doing it in a month is a little trickier. You’ll need to actually be over performing, or grinding pretty much all day.

The Fortnite Road to Unreal Cup should be closed to players who don’t reach the higher ranks. With this prize pool being only accessible to those who put the time in. How will the event work eventually though?
