Magic Chess: Go Go – the competition in auto-battler games increases

The game will have a global launch during the release of its second season, Blessing of Embers. The game debuted in December 2024 with soft launches in Malaysia and Singapore, followed by a full release in the Asia-Pacific region earlier this year in February. The second season will feature a Blessing mechanic that allows players to bolster their units and board by adding another Synergy or Role to a hero.

The game saw over 20 million pre-registrations recorded ahead of the worldwide launch, proving the game has great interest from the mobile community. “The community’s response to our APAC Grand Launch has been extremely positive,” said Gao ‘Skyhook’ Chong, MCGG Producer at MOONTON Games. “Besides our rapidly growing user base, we’ve seen huge engagement from the content creator community. We’ve also kick-started a growing competitive ecosystem, with our first competitive esports event in Indonesia.”

The first esports event for the mobile game will be in the APAC region, with the Magic Chess: Go Go Indonesia Community Tournament featuring a total of 512 players competing for the title and the $5,100 prize pool.

What is Magic Chess: Go Go?

MOONTON Games’ auto battler is similar to other versions seen in other game titles, such as Riot Games’ Teamfight Tactics or Dota 2‘s Auto Chess. MCGG uses a chessboard with eight players competing in the same lobby to see who survives the longest. The game features the heroes from Mobile Legends, making it easy for players to transition to the new game.

This marks another important step for MOONTON, which is looking to further expand its gaming ecosystem, shortly after its flagship title, MLBB, was temporarily banned in the US by President Donald Trump‘s Executive Order. To avoid further complications, MOONTON moved the US publishing operations to third-party Skystone to lift the ban.
