Team Vitality are currently enjoying a strong run in the League of Legends EMEA Championship (LEC). Sitting second in the standings at 3-1, following a week with two high-level victories against Natus Vincere and Movistar KOI, the Bees are off to a dream start this year, with their only loss coming against Karmine Corp.

Following the series against KOI, AD Carry Matyáš “Carzzy” Orság spoke with us to reflect on the match, the Esports Nations Cup, and the Czech roster, his thoughts on Kaan “Naak Nako” Okan and Linas “Lyncas” Nauncikas, and why he believes they will stomp G2 Esports and Shifters next week.

Congratulations on the 2-0 week and securing second place in the LEC. How are you feeling after this week?

Carzzy: Thank you. Well, I feel good because we had quite a good showing against NAVI, where we stomped them one game and second game we outscale, like [the] good old times in MAD Lions in 2021, where we are really behind and fighting our way back into the game.

[The] same happened against Movistar KOI, where I think we should have won the second game as well, but we did some snowball mistakes because we were taking it too lightly. And [in the] third game we had a really hard draft, but we won anyway because we were just playing better. So I’m really happy for the team overall, for the performance of everyone.

Ilyas: In the early stages of the first game, you were camped in the bot lane by your former teammate Javier “Elyoya” Prades, yet you still managed to stay in the game.

Do you have a message for him?

Carzzy: I mean, I don’t feel like he was really camping, so I have nothing to say. I don’t feel like it was personal. They just need some help on bot, you know.

Ilyas: In the second game, you were clearly ahead early but still ended up losing.

Did you throw or did they simply have better scaling? What happened?

Carzzy: They just caught us way too many times. There was this one scenario where we went for Viktor and we thought it’s a free kill and it wasn’t free kill, and we all died and lost our lead. That was the only thing, and after that their composition is just good into us because we lost most of the lead that is important for our team comp to make skirmishes happen. And it shifted the energy in the game where we had snowball effect and it stopped that place. So it was just good from them.

Yet you still managed to bounce back and win Game 3. Is that something you’ve worked on as a team?

Carzzy: It’s just me and most of us are experienced at this point, so we don’t really care. You know, every game is just a new game and you don’t really think about what happened in the past.

Ilyas: Talking about Naak Nako, he has been absolutely monstrous since the start of the year.

Do you think he’s the future of the region, and how high do you think he can go?

Carzzy: He’s really good. He has some weaknesses, of course, but if he improves on where he’s lacking, when it comes to some communication, then I think he can be, for sure, consistently the best top laner in Europe. So communication for sure, yeah, compete with the best top laners in the world.

The Esports Nations Cup is getting closer. Do you and the other Czech players talk about it?

Carzzy: Yeah, I mean for sure. It’s gonna be me, Jackies (Adam Jeřábek), and Humanoid (Marek Brázda), I’m pretty sure, because we are the only LEC players, right? And then we will see what happens.

Ilyas: Who would you rather have in mid, Humanoid, Jackies, maybe Šimon “OMON” Řiháček?

Is anyone considering role swaps to play top or join you in the bot lane?

Carzzy: I’d rather play with Jackies on support than with humanoid. I think Humanoid is pretty boosted on support.

Any names from the Czech league you’d like to play with?

Carzzy: I would like to play with Tomáš “Twight” Kyselák, the Czech jungler. For the rest, I have no idea. We are still thinking about it.

On a less positive note, you haven’t made an LEC final or attended an international event since 2023. Is that something you miss?

Carzzy: Yeah, I for sure miss going to internationals and enjoying the vibe there and competing and just being abroad. It was always a nice feeling for me. And I think about the past sometimes for nostalgia about the good times. So I would like to make some new memories this year or the coming years.

Ilyas: The next international event is MSI.

If you had to pick two teams to make it to MSI in Korea, who would you go for? Try not to be biased.

Carzzy: I mean, the best is probably KC and G2 that have the highest chances. And then it’s gonna be us or MKOI competing for it, I’d say, or maybe GIANTX.

Ilyas: A former teammate of yours, Lampros “Labrov” Papoutsakis, recently eliminated Gen.G in the semifinals of First Stand.

What do you think about his development? Is it something you were expecting back in your days together?

Carzzy: I’m really happy for Labrov. I always thought he was insane. I thought he was the best support in LEC or top 2 even back then. His biggest issue was choking in important matches, but it seems like he fixed that, so now there is nothing really holding him back anymore.

Ilays: After the first game, Linas “Lyncas” Nauncikas compared himself to Stephen Curry and even dunked in a video posted by your team.

Where does this come from? Are you involved?

Carzzy: I’m not involved in this. It’s just Lyncas liking basketball, you know. He’s a comedian (laughs).

You’ll be facing G2 and Shifters next week. Any thoughts on those matches?

Carzzy: We will probably just stomp them, so there is nothing to say really. Shifters are bad and G2 just got stomped by Fnatic, the most boosted team, so I will take this home.

Any final words?

Carzzy: Thank you guys for watching us. Hope you like it, hope you enjoy the content that we provide.
