Following the surprising loss to Karmine Corp, TES Kanavi spoke to us to share what went wrong in the series.

TES Kanavi – First Stand Interview, Day 3

The interview was done in Chinese and translated to English. Below is the transcript of the interview.

Davide: Hi Kanavi, thank you for speaking with us despite the loss. First, I want to ask you what went wrong in the series.

You previously mentioned the team didn’t communicate properly. What do you think are the ways the issue can be solved?

Kanavi: There were a lot of issues today, too many to list one by one. It just felt like there were a lot of them, and communication with teammates was one of them.

Davide: This should be the first time you faced Yike, even though both of you have had multiple international appearances over the past few years.

What’s your impression after playing against him today? Did anything stand out?

Kanavi: Yike’s sense of timing when making players was really good today, and he also had some great initiations during the teamfights. That was the thing that stood out to me.

Davide: In the first game, the team decided to pick a team composition that had several champions with dashes and a general high mobility.

As a natural counter to your picks, what led you to leaving Taliyah open for Karmine Corp?

Kanavi: At the time, we didn’t really consider Taliyah as a factor. That champion does put a lot of pressure on Kalista. When on stage, I think we said that the combo Taliyah-Skarner shouldn’t be that strong so we didn’t think about it that much.

With games being played back to back across the group stage, do you think that short amount of time between matches has led to more volatility in your team’s performance?

Kanavi: Originally, it wasn’t supposed to be a big issue, but since we’ve been playing non-stop every day, we had very little time to fix our issues. So we need to work hard together to resolve them.

Davide: You’re known for having a great tempo and TL UmTi praised you for that after his match yesterday.

If there is one thing you think you would have to work on a little bit more to increase your individual level, what would it be?

Kanavi: Personally, I need to improve my overall form, and I also need to communicate and coordinate with my teammates more.

HLE Viper previously mentioned the importance of team fighting in the current meta. Do you agree with his statement or are there other aspects you think are more important?

Kanavi: Teamfighting is always important, regardless of the patch. It just feels like teamfights are a crucial factor in any game. So yeah, I agree with his statement.

Top Esports only has one last match left, against CFO. What do you think are the key deciding factors of the series? Who do you think poses as the biggest threat on their team?

Kanavi: The most important thing is that we don’t have a match tomorrow, so we need to take that time to properly review and fix our issues. We need to talk things through as a team and make good preparation for the next match.

We’re towards the end of the interview. Please share a message to your fans.

I’m really grateful to my fans for their support. We’ll prepare well for our match the day after tomorrow and do our best to win. Thank you!
