After posting absurd numbers on release, a Shyvana nerf felt inevitable, especially once she hit a 57% win rate on day one. The champion was completely dominating low-elo games, making a hotfix seem all but guaranteed.

It has happened plenty of times before that a newly released or reworked champion ended up either being broken or completely useless. Yuumi launched in an almost unplayable state, while champions like K’Sante, Skarner, and Akali also went through heavily debated release periods. But Shyvana felt like a different kind of problem altogether. Her play rate exploded immediately after the rework, turning her into the most played champion in the game. For a jungler, sitting at a 57% win rate was completely out of line and made a hotfix feel unavoidable.
While the community has mostly welcomed Shyvana’s visual update, the same cannot really be said for the gameplay side of the rework. Players agree that the champion looks much more modern and far more fitting of her fantasy, but the actual kit has left a more mixed impression. For many, it still feels too close to the old Shyvana, only with a clunkier rhythm and less natural ability flow.
If there is one part of the rework that has clearly landed well, it is the multi-hit Dragon Form E, which has quickly become the most appreciated addition in the kit. The passive, by contrast, has struggled to win players over, with many arguing that it simply does not have enough impact to feel satisfying in actual games.
The reaction to the nerf, however, has been split. Shyvana’s dominance has been much more visible in lower elos, while her performance drops off significantly as rank increases. From Emerald onward, her win rate already falls into negative territory at around 48%. That divide has shaped the discussion around the champion: higher-elo players tend to see her as underwhelming, arguing that she is too easy to kite and lacks the burst or durability needed to stay effective, while lower-ranked players have been getting completely run over by her.
