The European Regional League (ERL) for the DACH region, the Prime League, has announced a partnership with GGWP, Girls Girls – Women Play, revolutionizing the competitive scene by removing the import rule for women looking to compete.

Prime League Partners with GGWP, Women to no Longer Count as Imports

Prime League x GGWP – Setting the new Standard for Inclusivity

The partnership between Prime League and GGWP will allow women to compete in the ERL without counting as imports. This means that women will have higher chances of being picked up across the Prime League’s various divisions.

Considering the smaller pool of female players, this partnership should improve the overall inclusivity by having female players compete in the League of Legends esports scene, allowing them to be more present in competitions and ultimately have more opportunities to showcase their skills. Players will have to verify themselves through the Prime League’s official website and join the GGWP Discord server for the verification process.

League of Legends Esports and the Increasing Focus on Female Players

Recently, important milestones were achieved for women across several esports titles, including League of Legends. Earlier this month, G2 Hel, the female team of German esports organization G2, was the first team to be promoted into the tier-two competitions following their entrance in Liga Nexo, the Spanish league.

Other key results include the return of the Equal Esports Cup, EMEA’s tournament for women and non-binary people, for its third edition. The tournament features 12 female teams and an offline Grand Final at Gamescom, in Cologne, Germany, later this year.

The Prime League is currently the top-tier domestic competition for DACH regions (Germany, Austria, and Switzerland), and it is fragmented into three different divisions. The ERL is operated by Freaks 4U Gaming, which was recently acquired by Indian esports company NODWIN Gaming and is supported by partners such as health insurance provider Die Techniker, snack brand KitKat, Deutsche Kreditbank AG, and Korean food brand Nongshim.
