Esports legend and current League of Legends champion Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok secured the second pentakill of his career earlier this morning, just one day after his birthday.

T1 faced DRX in Week 6 of the LCK Rounds 1-2, taking a dominant 2-0 victory and finally showing a much better form compared to the start of the season. In the series, Faker was able to go on a rampage with one of his signature champions, Ahri, taking the long-awaited pentakill during a Baron Nashor contest and wiping out the entire enemy team. Coincidentally, Ahri was the chosen champion for Faker last year when he was inducted into the Hall of Legends. Unfortunately, Faker didn’t choose his own skin and used the Classic one in today’s series (he’s often known for choosing the basic skins of champions).
Despite playing competitively for over 12 years now, today’s ace only marks the second-ever pentakill in official matches by the League of Legends GOAT. The first one came in 2015 during Game 3 between Najin e-mFire and SKT T1 on his other iconic pick, LeBlanc.
The pentakill scored against DRX was supposed to be the third one, but one was denied by T1’s jungler, Oner, back during the 2022 LCK Spring Split. Faker’s Viktor was killing people left and right on his Viktor, but Oner decided to take the kill on the enemy Lee Sin, leaving Faker only with a quadrakill. Ever got your pentakill stolen? Well, it happens even to the greatest player in the world.
With the win over DRX, T1 are now back into the top three in the LCK standings with a 7-3 record, overtaking Nongshim RedForce, who lost to Gen.G in today’s match. T1 will now have another important series up ahead, going against Dplus KIA on Saturday, May 10, at 8 a.m. CET.
