Faker ranked in the top five of the 2026 Overseas Hallyu Survey

Faker shared the top five with music artist IU in the Overseas Hallyu Survey

The survey, conducted by South Korea’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korean Foundation for International Cultural Exchange, polled 27,400 consumers of Korean content across 30 countries. While K-pop continued to lead the rankings in terms of global association, followed by food, dramas, and beauty products, esports ended up having its own recognition in the most influential Hallyu figures of 2025.

Faker entered the top five by being placed alongside Lee “IU” Ji-eun, showing how esports has become a worldwide phenomenon and reached the levels of other forms of entertainment, such as music. The iconic boy band BTS ended up ranking first, followed by actor Lee Min-ho, BLACKPINK, Jung Kook, and then Lisa.

Faker’s global recognition in mainstream media shows how much of an influence the mid laner has had in recent years, paired with the iconic three-peat of world championships. Earlier this year, the player was also given the Blue Dragon Medal of Sports, South Korea’s highest sporting decoration.

The perfect ambassador for esports

It’s not just about the title or the longevity. He has combined competitive success, consistency, and most importantly, credibility over the past 13 years of his professional career. The Korean mid laner built his image on control. He doesn’t chase headlines, nor does he lean into controversy. It’s just a man who loves to compete and wants to be at the top of his game, always. A self-disciplined and composed character with great ambition is the representation of any professional athlete and Faker has held that throughout his whole career… The recognition is just a consequence of it.
