When is the Fortnite downtime ending? it’s a question that’s asked every time that we see the game go down for an update. But at the end of a season, sometimes the downtime can be longer. In the past the game has been done for as long as a weekend before the season comes back.

When is the Fortnite Downtime Ending?

We are expecting the Fortnite downtime ending a lot sooner this time though! The Fortnite downtime should be over by the time a lot of players in the west even wake up to play. But it can be down for quite a bit. And the Fortnite downtime ending time is a little complicated since there’s a countdown in-game, but it’s to the start of the update not the end.

Fortnite downtime can be a bit weird. The game goes down, then it’s just a waiting game. We’ve seen a variety of lengths for downtime though. The game was up pretty much straight away for the most recent Fortnite season. Even though the Chapter was brand new. However, this time it’s going to be a more normal break for the game. This is what we know so far:

When is the Fortnite Downtime Ending?

Whenever the Fortnite downtime starts, the countdown begins to the new season. But how long will it be this time? At the moment, we’re expecting the Fortnite downtime ending on Thursday March 17th. That’s what’s been announced by Epic. Since then, we’ve had the Fortnite season end time announced too.

Downtime for the season will begin at the following times:

  • 11 PM PT
  • 1 AM CT
  • 2 AM ET
  • 7 PM GMT
  • 8 AM CEST
  • 4 PM JST
  • 5 PM AEST

But that’s the start of the downtime. But it isn’t when we expect it to end, that’ll be a few hours later.According to leakers, we’re expecting the downtime to be about 5 horus total. So we can expect the game to be back up and running starting at these times:

  • 4 AM PT
  • 6 AM CT
  • 7 AM ET
  • 12 PM GMT
  • 12 AM CEST
  • 8 PM JST
  • 9 PM AEST

Even once the downtime is over, there can be a delay. At tims, we’ve had a queue to get back in, but the Fortnite player numbers haven’t been record-breaking lately so the servers will probably cope this time.

Outside of that, we’ll have to wait and see if things go to plan. There have been cases where this time for Fortnite downtime ending has been pushed back quite a bit.

Can It Be Delayed?

The Fortnite downtime will most likely end a few hours after the game went down. But sometimes it gets extended. in the past, we’ve actually seen huge delays to the Fortnite downtime ending time.

Back in Chapter 5 Season 2, it literally took extra days. Epic kept pushing the release date back by a few hours, for a long time. There was a major update in rolling out the update that saw the game down for ages.

This season probably won’t be the same. but it’s good to be aware that this is a possibility. If the game isn’t back online within a few hours of when we’re exepcting the downtime to end, keep an eye on the Fortnite status X account. That’s where we get official updates.

Since the Fortnite season end date was delayed anyway, we probably won’t see a big delay. The game should be back up and running by the normal time the Fortnite downtime ending. Keep an eye out for Fortnite news if you’re trying to play the exact minute that the game returns.
