The new season has launched a ton of new features, including new weapons and Fortnite X Wing planes. Tracking them down is a little tricky though. The map has only got a handful of new Star Wars locations. What’s more, they’re on the very edge of the map. However, there are some other spots on the map. A few areas have landmarks where you can track down unadvertised Fortnite X Wing locations.

Where to Find Fortnite X Wing Locations

These new Fortnite vehicles are an important part of the fresh season. All the weapons have been replaced with blasters, and lightsabers are dotted all over. These new spaceships are the most exciting new mechanic though. You can find the X Wing spawns in quite a few spots. They do great damage, for a vehicle. While a bit fragile, they definitely beat cars for rotating. This is where you can find all the Fortnite X Wing locations and how to get the most out of them.

The new Fortnite vehicles this season are the X Wing and TIE Fighter. The fighter only seats one, but the Fortnite X Wing is a fully blown vehicle capable of carrying a whole squad around the sky. The tricky part is tracking them down. They don’t spawn randomly, but have pre-determined homes. They’re most commonly located in the new landing spots, mainly in those that are themed around the resistance, who would probably have X-Wings. These are all of the Fortnite X Wing locations:

  • Resistance Base
  • Restaurant Landmark (Overturned walkers near Resistance Base)
  • Outpost Enclave
  • Brutal Boxcars (Outpost nearby)
  • Flooded Frogs (Outpost nearby)

The new X Wing spawns will have one of the planes each time. If it’s missing, someone else might have already taken it. If you’re trying to complete a quest with the Fortnite X-Wing, it makes the most sense to head to one of the Resistance Fortnite POIs. Although, the top Fortnite players mainly head for the medallion at the moment, so they should be quieter. These are the places on the map where there’s the most Fortnite X Wing spawns the most commonly.

How to Use the Fortnite X Wings

Once you’ve tracked one down, you might find the Fortnite X Wing is a little harder to use than it seems. It controls very similarly to previous planes, but the controls have been slightly simplified. The altitude and direction you head in is now all controller by your recticle.

Essentially, where you’re targeting is where you’ll fly. It’s also where you’ll shoot. Meaning you’ll end up ramming players if you spend too long blasting at them. You’ll also need to look upwards if you want to gain height and fly higher. The controls are nice and simple though, great since Fortnite Mobile is about to get millions more players.

The gun on the Fortnite X Wing Can be manned by the person flying it, but it doesn’t move independently. You’ll need to fly towards your target each time. It can deal decent damage though. Provided you can manoeuvre quickly enough, it’s a decent weapon against other players or fighters in the sky.

Taking Them Down

The big problem with the X Wings in Fortnite is why they’re not too complicated to take down. They’re big.

The X Wings are a decently sixed target, with the current blasters not taking ammo, it isn’t the biggest problem for players to just focus their fire in on the X Wing. Their health bar isn’t huge. You can blow one life up before they get far from the Fortnite X Wing spawn point.

Once you deal enough damage, it’ll blow. The player will take minor damage and be dropped out on the floor. Once you’ve done this three times, the X Wing actually vanishes for good! If you’re under attack, the best thing for you to do is use cover. The X Wing gun’s reticule is a bit imprecise, so using cover should minimize your damage. The plane itself is also huge, so dealing damage back isn’t too difficult. Compared to old planes, these are actually a much better-balanced vehicle. It still isn’t too likely they’ll be in Fortnite tournaments this season though.

Fortnite X Wing Quest – How to Travel Distance (Quickly)

One major quest that has players searching out the Fortnite X Wing locations is to travel distance in one, but it’s quite a long distance. A bit more than a lot of players can comfortably get completed in a single stretch. The problem is the X Wings are a huge target, and too fragile to get all solid distance in them.

There are some ways around this though!

The Fortnite X Wings have that weird health system, where they’ll blow up, recover, blow up, recover, and then blow up again before being permanently unusable. Players have discovered a workaround to extend their life though. You can actually heal these the same way as you can in a car! Landing one on the strips by gas stations is a bit difficult, but if you can line it up properly, you’ll be able to heal the X Wing and get a bit more life out of it.

Otherwise, it comes down to staying out of trouble. Keep a bit higher and don’t directly attack other players. While you’re a large target not that many players will endlessly spray a high-flying X-wing that isn’t even attacking them. Doing this should help to get the travel distance in Fortnite X Wings quest completed.
