One of the biggest tournaments on the calendar right now are the Fortnite Duos Division Cups. This tournament series is kickstarting the return to Duos for Fortnite competitive a little earlier. While the next FNCS is a while away, these Divisional tournaments will help the top players stay active in the meantime. They’re also the perfect place to follow who the best Fortnite players are, and how they’re adapting to Duos once again.

How to Play Fortnite Duos Division Cups

The Fortnite Duos Divisional Cups are bringing back the FNCS Division format. While there isn’t a Major to play for, Duos will still compete week to week to try and snag a bigger prize at the end. Compared to other Fortnite Cash Cups, it’s a bit less open. Not everyone will be able to play the Duos Division Cups. However, some established players can definitely get in on the action.

If you’ve been missing Fortnite esports since the Global Championship, this early look at the new meta is going to help us see which Duos look strongest next year. So, what can we expect?

Fortnite Duos Division Cups

The FNCS Global Championship wrapped up, and saw an announcement of a major expansion for 2026. We’ll see loads more LANS, extra tournaments covering different game modes, but maybe most excitingly, a return to Duos for players. We’ve already seen the top Fortnite players get active and find new Duos for this tournament.

As a Division Cup, it has the same format to the lead up to the FNCS. This means the best players in each Fortnite region are going to be in the top Division, and lower players lower down. This has the benefit of raising the average skill level in the lobbies. Too often, watching pros play a Cash Cup is just a curb stomp, it’s like watching a decent player in a bot lobby. The Divisions ensure there’s at least a lower level of skill for these higher-level matches.

Format

The FNCS Duo Division Cups are made up of day days for each event. On both days, there’s a three-hour session where players can compete in up to ten different matches. They earn points based on placement and kills.

As the weeks go on, players who earn more points can move up the divisions to join the top ranks of competitive Fortnite. There are quite a few weeks of gameplay though, it’ll take a lot of consistency to move up the divisions.

The FNCS Duos Division Cups are a bit different to Cash Cups because they’re less open. But the format is still quite standard, no major surprises. It’s really more of a practice tournament ahead of the FNCS switching to Duos next year, but there’s still some solid prizes up for grabs.
