Looking at the new season, it’s going to be an interesting few months for tournaments. On the one end, we have the FNCS and the Summit LAN which are coming. That’s for the top pros to compete, in a quicker schedule than normal. If you’re a beginner or just want to earn your cosmetic prize though, we’ve got the Fortnite C7 S2 Ranked Cups.

They’re a unique format geared around the Fortnite Ranked game mode. Players compete regularly to try and earn a free exclusive cosmetic. If you don’t win it in its season, it’s gone. Some players like to collect them. For others it’s a good opportunity to play tournament format. What really makes it different though is different cups for different ranks. More players can get involved. This is how they work this time:

The Fortnite Ranked Cups are back for another season. Although, with the tournament queue breaking Epic firing the staff who maintain tournaments it might be a gamble taking part. If you can get in tough, then the Fortnite C7 S2 Ranked Cups are a good opportunity.

It’s played in a three hour session. Players get to go through eleven matches in each. They get points for placement and kills. There’s more variety with the events than most tournaments though. The Fortnite Ranked Cups are running for builds, but they’ll also be part of Zero Build this year. That means players who don’t want to use Builds can play too.

Each of the Fortnite server regions get its own tournaments, like with any other event. Players have to have a rank in-game to be eligible. However, there’s no need to grind up the Ranks first. It’s a lot more open. The prize pool is the biggest difference though.

Prize Pool

The prizes for the Fortnite Ranked Cup are different. There’s no big cash prize like the Fortnite Champion Series, it’s just cosmetics. These are the prizes for this season’s Ranked Cups:

  • Barricade Pack Back Bling
  • Barricade Skin
  • Sledge Axe Pickaxe

How to Play the Fortnite C7 S2 Ranked Cups

If you want to get involved with the Fortnite Ranked Cups, they are available to most players. In the past, you got separate playlists for most of the Ranks in the game. They’ve been cut down a bit in more recent seasons, but players are still separated. There are sections for those above and below Diamond now. It should mean the games are a bit more scaled in to your skill level. But the old smaller divisions made it tricky to always find games.

Given how empty Fortnite Ranked is… it can still be messy. Unless players actively want to compete in cash tournaments there isn’t a reason to play Ranked, and even if you do compete it’s just to get through the base ranks. A lot of players don’t have Ranks that match their gameplay anymore. But you can get involved in the Ranked Cups very easily.

There aren’t any of the extra rules for entering this tournament. No 14-tournament rule or anything else restricting who takes part. You play the Fortnite C7 S2 ranked events much more easily.
