The Fortnite tournaments different formats all have eligibility requirements. They vary, with cash tournaments having some harder barriers stopping you from taking part.

You don’t need to do much to join Fortnite tournaments online, but you do need to be eligible. There are two different sets of eligibility requirements for players. One is for general tournament. Those without cash rewards that are mainly for practise, fun, or winning Fortnite skins.
Then, there’s harsher requirements which are in place for those tournaments with cash prizes. Epic has been cracking down on Fortnite cheaters over the last year. This has meant tournaments with cash on offer are a lot harder to get into now, with the aim of stopping cheaters making it to them. It’s frustrating they’ve taken this approach rather than better policing the problem, but it’s the rules right now. These are the requirements you need to be aware of:
Beyond that, there’s the extra requirement for cash tournaments. For these events players need to have competed in at least 14 different tournaments in the last 180 days. This is in a rolling period. So, if one drops out and you haven’t played a new tournament since, you won’t be able to join Fortnite tournaments online.
Players have to play in over 14 non-cash events in to play cash tournaments. These can be Ranked Cups, but also smaller events like Cosmetic cups. There’s plenty of them. Players will need to do a lot of them to take part. But to stand a chance in cash tournaments in the first place, you’ll need to get plenty of experience. So it works out.
If you meet those eligibility requirements, you should be able to join Fortnite tournaments online if run is running at the right time for your server region. You just need to find the mode and drop in.
