Brandon Howard

It’s been seven years since the Evil Geniuses made the choice to leave the professional CS:GO scene. Finally, the legendary organization announced their return to the game with their acquisition of NRG’s entire current roster. This news comes in time for ESL One New York where Evil Geniuses will compete after replacing NRG.

Evil Geniuses find themselves in a great position after picking up NRG’s roster. NRG has been one of the best teams this year and are currently ranked fourth in the world according to HLTV.org’s rankings. NRG were set to compete in ESL One New York starting today, but Evil Geniuses will take over with their first match against FaZe Clan—who are ranked 15th. It’s going to be an exciting match for the “new” team.

2019 marks 20 years since Evil Geniuses were founded. That landmark coincides with their return to Counter-Strike. They originally entered the scene in 2007, lasting five years before their departure in 2012. NRG has participated in professional CS:GO for the past four years and has grown immensely since their emergence in the game. Since that time, they worked to build a great roster that helped propel the team to become one of the best teams in the world.

It’s unclear when NRG will be coming back to participate in CS:GO. For the moment, they’re showing upmost respect and support for Evil Geniuses as EG becomes the home for the NRG roster. Though the organization has changed, the team completely remains the same, which places Evil Geniuses in a great position not only for ESL One New York this weekend but going forward. The historic organization is officially back and ready to take the Counter-Strike scene by storm once more.
