EA Injects $400,000 Into Four Apex Tournaments

Lawrence "Malystryx" Phillips

Competitive Apex Legends has just been given a massive welcome care package by EA, one which should give the scene a much needed stimulus to keep their skills sharp. In response to the global pandemic, the publisher has announced three brand new Online Tournaments to the calendar, each with $100,000 in prize money. What is more, the ALGS Online Tournament #3, taking place on April 4th & 6th, will also now come with $100,000 in prize money. Be warned, you have until April 2nd to register if you haven’t already.

The addition of $400,000 in prize money is part of EA’s broader “Stay & Play” initiative, a program aimed at creating a safe platform for competitive gaming from home. “As the global coronavirus situation evolves, we want to help the world find more ways to connect in play during a time where we need to be physically apart,” said EA in it’s announcement

With all ALGS Live Events suspended until further notice – including now the PGL Bucharest Premier Event – these steps should put the game in good stead to continue to thrive despite the immense setbacks to the start of the ALGS season.

“We’re so proud of how this community has rallied together and we hope everyone continues to enjoy the ALGS as we adapt our format to meet these difficult times,” said EA.
