A $1,000,000 prize pool and a bulk of ESL and BLAST circuit points are also on the line. Here is everything you need to know to stay up-to-date with the Major.
PGL Major Antwerp Schedule and Format
PGL Major Antwerp will play host to 24 teams split into three groups of eight. Teams qualified as either Legends, Challengers, or Contenders based on their placement in the Regional Major Rankings events (RMR) earlier this year. For the full list of PGL Major Antwerp teams and their qualification tier, check here.
First up is the Challengers Stage from May 9th to 12th. The eight Contenders and Challengers will meet up in a 16 team Swiss system. Teams will play best-of-ones until they have either two wins or two loses. After that, all of their games will be best-of-threes. Teams will advance to the next round by winning three total matches. Seeding will be done based on strength of opponents (Buchholz system) and initial seeds.
The second stage is the Legends Stage from May 14th to 17th. The previous advancing eight teams will meet up with the eight Legends in another 16 team Swiss system. The format will be the exact same as the previous stage, with the eight teams that earn three match wins advancing to the playoffs.
The final stage is the Champions Stage from May 19th to May 22nd. The top eight teams will face off in a single elimination knockout bracket. All matches, including the Grand Finals, will be best-of-three. Performance in the Legends Stage will determine seeding. At the end, the PGL Major Antwerp Champions will be crowned.
