ImAPet Joins 100 Thieves as Coach
North American organization 100 Thieves has confirmed the signing of Chet “ImAPet” Singh as its Counter-Strike: Global Offensive coach.
The American-born coach will join the fully Australian roster as its coach less than two months after departing from Evil Geniuses, where internal conflicts were said to have pushed ImAPet out the door. The head coach role was left vacant since late-April when 100 Thieves revealed the departure of Aleksandar “kassad” Trifunović, ending a partnership with the team that stretched back to January 2017.
ImAPet shared his feelings regarding the recent move to 100 Thieves in a Twitlonger, saying:
“Today starts a new chapter in my life. I was teamless in a pretty scary time, where [coronavirus] has pretty much limited a lot of CSGO opportunities and opportunities given weren’t exactly what I would call living up to my expectations. Thankfully, I gave it enough time and didn’t sign my life away to Valorant and I was able to find a squad that I have a lot of faith in and they seem to have the same for me, so thank you 100 Thieves for the opportunity to let me jump back into competitive [Counter-Strike].”
The coaching addition will look to get things back in motion for the former Renegades roster which reached two Major playoffs in 2019. The current season has been off to an arbitrary start, seeing much needed success in ESL One Road to Rio, but falling short of the target with a 13-16th place at IEM Katowice.
The 23-year old coach will bring with him a wealth of experience in helping players unlock their full potential. ImAPet made this clear by leading the NRG core to a collection of flashy first place finishes and driving them up the world rankings in 2019 with a top four Major placing. The team’s potential was eventually noticed by Evil Geniuses, who acquired the NRG roster in September 2019.
100 Thieves will debut with ImAPet as early as Tuesday in Group B of DreamHack Masters Spring.
With ImAPet, 100 Thieves are now:
Aaron “AZR” Ward
Justin “jks” Savage
Joakim “jkaem” Myrbostad
Jay “Liazz” Tregillgas
Sean “Gratisfaction” Kaiwai
Chet “ImAPet” Singh (coach)
