The online Thunderpick WC 2025 Closed Qualifiers will be comprised of 16 teams, taking part in a single-elimination bracket to fight for one of just four spots in the main event. Of these 16 teams, four Wildcards will be invited from the winners of the North and South America Regional Series. The remaining 12 will be determined directly from the Europe VRS, with invites being sent out based on the standings on August 5, 2025. A change has been agreed with Valve that the winners of the Europe Series 1 and 2 will no longer receive a Closed Qualifier invitation.

GAM3RS_X will serve as the tournament operator for the online Thunderpick World Championship 2025 Closed Qualifiers between September 9th and 11th. All details can be found over on the Thunderpick site.

As part of the announcement, Thunderpick has also locked down the details of the main event. The Thunderpick World Championship 2025 is heading to Malta from October 15th to 19th, following last year’s successful event in Berlin.

A total of eight teams will be involved, four of which will be directly invited via the global VRS. The other four will, of course, earn their spots in the aforementioned Closed Qualifiers. Like the CQ, invites will be sent out using the August 5th, 2025, Valve Regional Standings.

The Thunderpick World Championship 2025 kicks off with two GSL Groups, each with four teams. The Group Stage runs from October 15th to 17th, with two teams from each advancing to the Playoffs. Then, it moves to single-elimination Playoffs, with four of the remaining best CS2 teams in the world duking it out for the lion’s share of a mammoth $850,000 prize pool.

Hotspawn is partnered with the Thunderpick World Championship 2025, and we’ll be there in Malta to bring you all the most exciting content directly from the LAN Finals.
