On another episode of “Who will face Vitality in the Grand Final of a tier-one event in 2026?”, we have NAVI, who are up against the final boss at BLAST Rivals Fort Worth 2026. The history, the present form, and logic all side with Vitality, but there is one thing that can still turn the tide in favor of NAVI. And that is personal vendettas.

“I want to do to them what they did to us.” These were the words of a vengeful makazze, who couldn’t do anything but watch as Vitality ripped NAVI apart in the Grand Final of BLAST Open Rotterdam 2026. In fact, in the past eight encounters since 2023, NAVI have only won a single map against Vitality, which includes IEM Cologne 2024 and BLAST Rotterdam.

This rivalry, more like a one-sided beating, has long been in Vitality’s favor, even before they became world champions. NAVI’s frustration and desire for vengeance are justified. But has that alone ever been enough? In a game like Counter-Strike, emotions can ignite moments, but consistency, structure, and composure often decide the outcome over a full series.

Vitality’s recent form

If you wanted to find a chink in Vitality’s armor recently, there isn’t one. Except for maybe ropz, who is at the bottom of the team stat card for this event. But a 1.04 rating isn’t that bad, considering ZywOo and flameZ have been enough to put Vitality in winning positions. Then, if I talk about mezii, who was slightly struggling in the tournament before, is once again back up there with an average rating of 1.11. Even apEX is having a stellar showing this tournament, averaging 1.08.

If you talk about overall performance, Vitality has taken down FUT, G2, and GamerLegion. FUT were actually a tough contender for Vitality to beat. Vitality lost Dust2 and had to fight hard on the decider Nuke to close it out. Against G2, they lost Overpass narrowly, and even against GamerLegion, they had to fight hard on Overpass. But a huge reason behind these close group stage games was a slow start by ropz. However, over the span of his career, he has proved to be incredibly reliable in high-stakes arena games. And even against GamerLegion, he was able to shake off his struggles and put up a 1.25 rating.

And this is why I said that Vitality has no chinks in the armor. If mezii has a slow game, ropz will step up. If ropz has a slow game, flameZ will step up. And if they all have a slow game, you can count on ZywOo to make up for the difference.

The chances of an upset

Now obviously, the odds favor Vitality. But it’s not like NAVI doesn’t stand a chance. In fact, I think they have a better chance of beating Vitality today than they did in Rotterdam. NAVI have been playing some of the best Counter-Strike I have seen from this roster in the past two years. makazze and w0nderful have been putting up the star factor in the games when needed. Even the remainder of b1t, Aleksib, and iM have been pretty steady with their performance.

That is why NAVI are the highest-rated team so far at the event. Indeed, they have only faced FaZe twice, and GamerLegion, not the strongest of opponents, but the quality of CS has been there for them. But the only thing is that the map pool does not favor them. The strongest maps for NAVI are also the strongest maps for Vitality. And as for Ancient, the only map where I think NAVI can take on any team in the world is the permanent ban for Vitality.

It will make matters incredibly difficult because Dust2, Mirage, Inferno, and Nuke are all strong Vitality maps. NAVI will need to outperform Vitality on maps where Vitality is already comfortable, which is never an easy task. But then, isn’t Counter-Strike the most fun when the strengths of both teams collide?
