Aurora have broken their losing streak against The MongolZ to reach the Semi-Finals of BLAST Open Rotterdam 2026. The Turkish lineup has failed to beat The MongolZ on the last five times of asking, but a straightforward 2:0 win ensured that their grim record finally looks a little brighter.

On paper, Aurora and The MongolZ are on a pretty similar level at the moment – two teams looking to fill the void of quality at the top and become real challengers to Vitality‘s uncontested throne. But this series was hardly close at any point in time.
For a fleeting moment, it appeared as though we might have a contest at the start of map one of Inferno. Bouts of momentum for both teams ensured that the first half ended 6:6, and, frankly, that was the only time this entire series retained any semblance of competitiveness. After Aurora got onto their CT side, they didn’t drop a single round to a blunt MongolZ T half, cleaning it out 13:6. Despite losing the momentum in the second half, The MongolZ still did not call a single timeout in the absence of coach maaRaa, which felt ill-advised in this particular map.

Aurora came out on map two firing on all cylinders, roaring to a 7:1 lead. It set the tone for the rest of Mirage. As they picked up their eventual 10th round, The MongolZ did start to mount what may have felt like a comeback, but in truth, it was always cosmetic. A 23-kill haul from Wicadia was enough to see out the game 13:9, securing a 2:0 win and Aurora’s spot in the BLAST Open Rotterdam 2026 Semi-Finals.
After the game, we were able to catch up with Wicadia to grab his thoughts on breaking The MongolZ’s win streak over Aurora.
Wicadia: I think every time we played against them it was close games. We were losing because we do some easy mistakes. This time we didn’t do this. So we managed to win.
