After one of the most successful tournaments in recent Call of Duty esports history, FaZe Vegas climbed out from the middle of the pack in qualifying to find form when it mattered the most, beating OpTic Texas 4-1 in the Grand Finals to be crowned CDL Major II Champions.

FaZe Vegas win CDL Major II

After being knocked down to the lower bracket earlier in the day, FaZe Vegas fought back with back to back wins against crowd favourites Toronto KOI and OpTic Texas.

Using Search and Destroy as the pillar stone for success, particularly under the influence of Chris “Simp” Lehr, FaZe defied the will of the crowd to clutch a 4-1 victory over OpTic in the Grand Finals.

Putting out astronomical numbers with a takeover performance to win his first major yet, Jovan “04” Rodriguez walked away with a trophy and an MVP accolade.

FaZe join Gentle Mates in Major wins during CDL 2026, and will earn them a coveted banner on the wall when Major 3 rolls into Atlanta.

OpTic Texas falls short for the second time in a row

For OpTic Texas, the loss raises some questions about their ability to get championships over the line. With this defeat to FaZe Vegas, it shows shades of Major I, which ended with the Green Wall watching Gentle Mates hoist the trophy.

In both events, OpTic dominated the lead-up to the final, storming through the upper bracket and avoiding more than one map loss on the road.

Yet in the final, it’s been the hotter lower-bracket team that came out swinging and put OpTic to the sword.

There’s no doubt that OpTic will have their eyes on the special final at the end of the season, in a bid to be the first team to complete a three-peat, and back-to-back finalists and an almost flawless qualifying stage will hold them in good stead moving forward.

But for the immediate future, it’s a bug that OpTic will want to squash before it becomes a bigger, nagging problem come the end of the season.
