Treyarch announced in a blog post that the competitive matchmaking system for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, League Play, will be delayed until 2019.
Treyarch announced in a blog post that the competitive matchmaking system, League Play, will be delayed until 2019 to establish “polish that our competitive players expect and deserve.”
“After laying the initial groundwork for our CWL feature set with CWL Custom Games, CODCaster, and the Live Event Viewer on PS4, our sights for competitive play are now set on delivering the full suite of World League Hub features as soon as possible. While many of these features were initially planned to release in December, we are spending a little more time in development to give these features the polish that our competitive players expect and deserve.” – Treyarch.
League Play was expected to launch this month, but it looks like fans are going to have to wait a month or more. It seems like Treyarch and Activision have their hands full, especially with CWL Vegas happening this weekend.
Within the post, Treyarch also detailed the new update hitting Black Ops 4 on December 11. The first post-launch specialist, Zero, will be dropping into CoD. According to the post, Zero can “disrupt and distract” her enemies using her hacking tools. It appears that Zero will take advantage of an EMP-like weapon. Players will be able to unlock Zero by completing the first tier in the Black Market system.
Treyarch recently revamped the Black market system, including a reduction of tiers from 200 to 100. The developers were excited to feature new and diverse items within each tier. The update will also bring brand new weapons, skins, and map changes.
Blackout fans will also be able to enjoy the new update as well. Hijacked will be added to the Blackout map, which is a popular Black Ops 2 map. There will also be a new armor repair system and seasonal changes.
Next week’s update will be the biggest to hit Black Ops 4 since its release in October. Even though competitive fans will be upset with the League Play delay, there is a bunch of new content to enjoy! No matter if you play regular multiplayer, Blackout, or Zombies, there will be plenty of stuff for you to do.
